My roommate (who never knocks) just walked in on me while I was undressing.

I heard the lock turning and I was like "Um, um, I'm changing in here!!" (and I was, for the record).

And she just kept going and opened the door like one of those unstoppable serial killers from slasher movies. And then stared at me for a few seconds. And then she was like "Oh, I'm sorry =/" and turned around and walked back out.

...

...

My life is often an unfortunate one.

So, uh.

My parents threatened to disown me again, and in all seriousness, I think they're likely to go through with it by next year at the latest.

I finished a new fanvid today :) It's the first half of a contest audition where you're supposed to submit contrasting pieces; I wanted something good and creepy to offset something light and poppy.

Another day, and my work on the mystery project continues.

Current word count: 2599, almost double the record from before I started this project. Score.
Current plot: Has taken a sharp turn for the worse
Current writing quality: Relatively constant

Sarah owes me donuts for helping her out on an economics project. If all goes well, I will receive them tomorrow.

The mysterious writing project continues to bring me nothing but pain. Pain and the knowledge that m/m pairings were probably not the best ones for me to start out with. It's always getting ridiculously hard to keep the pronouns straight.

Current word count: 2017 (New record!)
Current plot: Much improved from yesterday's version
Current writing quality: Worsening by the minute

That said, two out of three ain't bad, and I get kind of a buzz out of knowing that I am making progress, even if the results are still going to be kind of mediocre.

My graduation supplies came in yesterday! \o/ I've only got 35 days of high school left. 35! Out of 720! Life is good!

I have to get through my AP exams first, though. Alas. I did this on last year's Environmental Science test* (good times, good times) and still came out with a 3/5. This year's quote is "WHY SO SERIOUS", which will definitely be appearing in my AP Lit essays.

Still working on that ~mysterious writing project~. Hope to have it finished by Sunday night.

*For one of the free response questions on the U.S. History exam, I drew in a chibi!Zack from FF7, but that was just because I couldn't come up with a reasonably convincing answer to the prompt.
It was a very encouraging chibi. "So, you wanna make a 5? Hang in there!"

I feel the need to announce that I've set a new record for how much fiction I can write without deleting everything in a fit of self-loathing.

1660 words and counting! The previous record was roughly 1300. That's over a 25% increase!

...now, if only I were capable of writing seriously instead of throwing in a cheesy joke every two lines...

Also, my crush let me wear his hat the other day. I was like AWWW, YEAH on the inside. On the outside I just got all embarrassed and gave it back after about thirty seconds. Clearly, I do not have the charisma to make this relationship end in hot sex =(

I would just like to inform everyone that I once stripped for a class project.

Not completely, of course. I was mostly just buried under a lot of layers. Sweatshirt -> sweater -> t-shirt -> camisole. Sneakers -> socks -> bare feet. Sweatpants -> jeans -> shorts. So I only got down to a camisole and a pair of shorts, but this was not cleared with the teacher ahead of time, so it's basically one of the most badass things that I've ever done (as compared to the time when I showed up in a pimp suit for a school project and the time when I gave a speech entitled Boys In Skirts Are Awesome for my final grade. I didn't warn the teachers about either of those plans, either).

I'm mentioning this escapade now because, honestly, I'd managed to forget about it completely. ...yeah, I know, how could I forget that story when I'm so proud of the other two? I have no idea! It happened about a month after I'd turned fifteen. It was for a summer course (some voluntary pre-college thing, not a remedial class. Duke TIP, Wisdom of The East, 2006), so wasn't for a real grade; I wasn't risking my academic record or anything. My assignment was to give a fifteen minute presentation on a female ascetic whose name I can't recall. Google suggests that it was Akka Mahadevi, which sounds about right. Anyway, her big deal was that she wandered the countryside nude in order to symbolize giving up worldly attachments, so my, uh, visual aid was that I was stripping for enlightenment. Just walked up to the podium with my notecards and a laundry basket and took stuff off as I talked.

I can't believe that I forgot about this. But I was reading Looking For Alaska earlier (I'm about 3/4 of the way through; it's good, but not great) and the wacky high school antics kind of jogged my memory. Good times, good times.

(I should note that I climbed a tree for the first time roughly one week later. I fell out of it. I have not climbed a tree since.)
(I was uncharacteristically daring during this particular summer.)

•Today, I discovered one of the coolest things ever: A Christian death metal band which, after a short career (during which they wrote and performed an FF7!OGC tribute), retired and started producing an online cooking show. Just. I mean. What, that is amazing.

(The song has pretty terrible lyrics, but I respect the effort. You can listen to it [here].)

•A while ago, I finished watching the first season of House. It had been years since I'd finished watching the first season of anything that didn't have subtitles, so I feel like I deserve some kind of award for this. And it has real actors, oh my god, this is such a change for me.

•In real life, I'm suffering through a ridiculous crush on a boy in my lit class. It's hopeless because he has a steady (and very attractive) girlfriend. I should be able to accept that and move on, but he's just so eloquent and ruggedly handsome that even though Savannah's Brain is saying "I do believe that this is a lost cause and that we should redirect our attentions elsewhere", The Rest of Savannah is like "POUNCE HIM. POUNCE HIM NOW. CARPE DIEM, ASK HIM TO PROM." The Rest of Savannah has an unfortunate tendency to not learn things after the first time.

•College admissions decisions are in! Pomona College rejected me =| But I was accepted at the University of Georgia, which is going to be dramatically cheaper in the long run. So I'll go there for a year and see how it goes; I can always transfer to a different school if I'm all that unhappy with it.

•If I do transfer, I'll probably be trying to get into Kenyon College. Why? Because author, vlogger, and all-around awesome dude John Green went to Kenyon. Seriously, listen to this guy. Plus, it's a well-documented fact that his senior prank(s) in high school involved both explosions and strippers. Would you want to go to a school known for attracting people who are that awesome? Yes. Yes you would.

•Speaking of strippers, I totally wanted to write a novel about the goings-on at a strip club. I got halfway through plotting it when I realized that it was less about strippers and more about a generic love quadrangle, so I've gone back to the drawing board for now.

•Finished the first volume of Saint Young Men. Check out this premise:

"What if Jesus and Buddha were living on Earth in modern times? What if they shared an apartment in Japan?"

If you think that sounds completely fucking awesome, you can check it out [here]. If you think it sounds anything other than completely fucking awesome, I find your thought process bizarre and intriguing, and I wish for you to explain it in the comments.

Several things:

•I finally finished all of my college applications. Now comes the waiting.
•I ♥ my friends list. We should all talk more. I, uh, need to work on that.
•I'm taking a break from LJ until 2/1. But I'll still be available via IM.
This is epic.

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm graduating high school in May. It seems so close! =D But for right now, it's time for some New Year's resolutions.

•I'd like to lose some weight (but, then again, who doesn't? Skinny people, that's who.) I'm about to start college, and that means meeting my dating pool for the next four years. Did you know that guys decide their potential for being attracted to a person within the first minute of meeting them? Trufax. Well, okay, I read it in a women's magazine, but it sounds true anyway. Point is, if I lose weight after they get their first impression of me, it isn't going to help. Lofty goal: make it from 152 pounds to 120.

•I'd like to play more games. Moar. Being cute and skinny would open up a lot of options for me IRL, but, in the meantime, nothing's stopping me from getting back in touch with my inner video game addict. Tentative goal: finish at least 10 new games.

•I'd like to be less shy. Because I am paralyzingly shy, both in fandom and in real life. It's a little more obvious in fandom, though, just because of the higher percentage of people who I'd like to talk to if I weren't scared to approach them. RL takes places in kind of a rural (cough, backwater, cough) town, so I'm pretty much content to be thought of as a wallflower. Abstract goal: uuuuuuuh, yeah, there's really no way to quantify shyness. But I am going to try to get better!

•Keep up the straight-As for the rest of the year. It doesn't really matter, since colleges mostly just look to make sure you didn't fail anything during your last semester, but I'd like to go out on a high note. Optional goal: Shoot for a 95 average.

Aaaaand to get the year moving, here's a meme:
